Job Posting

Chief Financial & Operating Officer

The Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the largest art museums in North America, attracting some one million visitors annually. The AGO’s collection of more than 120,000 works of art includes contemporary and modern art, significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists, European masterpieces, works of global Africa and the diaspora, photography, a library of over 380,000 volumes, and much more. The AGO is poised to expand its presence in the international art world with the building of the exciting new Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery. The Chief Financial & Operating Officer will be a key player on the leadership team that elevates the AGO to even greater prominence.

Reporting to the Director & CEO, with responsibility for a team of 140 across Finance, IT, Building and Grounds, Facilities, and Security, the CF&OO will integrate and optimize financial and operational functions to support and enable the organizational vision. Working collaboratively with the Director & CEO, and supporting several Board Committees, the next CF&OO will deliver excellence in financial planning and reporting, systems implementation, operational leadership, and data-driven analysis to advance strategic decision-making, manage risk, drive revenues, and ensure sustainability.

The CF&OO will bring executive leadership experience and a proven record of success in a complex, multi-stakeholder organization, along with the ability to work closely with an enterprising CEO, a dedicated team, and highly experienced trustees and foundation board members. Inclusive, engaging, and experienced with not-for-profit culture and processes, the CF&OO will experience the satisfaction of contributing financial and operational knowledge and insights to fulfill the mission, vision, and values of one of the community’s and the country’s most treasured cultural institutions.
