Executive Director

Do you have a vision of Edmonton as a truly intercultural community? Are you looking to contribute to the evolution of a centre that fosters a dynamic model of intercultural engagement within the vibrant and pluralistic society that defines Edmonton?

The Edmonton Intercultural Centre (EIC) is a non-profit organization formed in 2013 which manages the facility housed in the former McCauley School, in the McCauley Community in Edmonton. It houses nine organizations, all of which share a dedication to serving multicultural and Indigenous communities. In addition to the nine permanent tenants, many external user groups rent space for over 80,000 Edmontonians to gather for community events each year.

The overarching objective of the Edmonton Intercultural Centre is to provide unique and educational research, community engagement, income generating, and capacity building programs and services that support intercultural learning and inclusive communities by intentionally creating relationships across sectors and within communities.

A new, part-time Executive Director role:  The Board of Directors is seeking an Executive Director familiar with the non-profit sector who will build on the society’s mission, vision, and values.

Your senior leadership skills include a proven track record of:

·         Meeting both strategic and operational needs of an organization;

·         Balancing financial and risk management (including fund development);

·         Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders;

·         Demonstrating a high level of competency in intercultural relations with both multicultural and Indigenous groups.

 

Preferred Qualifications include:

·         University Degree in a related discipline supplemented by progressive experience in a senior leadership role; 

·         Equivalences will be considered, and international experience is welcome;

·         Demonstrated capacity in networking, relationship building, communication, and conflict resolution in complex, sensitive, and intercultural contexts;

·         Lived experience working in intercultural contexts and fluency in more than one language is a definite asset.Do you have a vision of Edmonton as a truly intercultural community?
