TO Live is currently seeking a Vice President of Human Resources & Organizational Culture.  Reporting to the President and CEO, this executive position provides leadership in the realization of TO Live’s Human Resource department with a mandate and key responsibility for all aspects of human resources, inclusive diversity equity and accessibility undertakings and environmental social governance initiatives.  This position will partner, advise, and support TO Live staff as needed in all matters relating to human resources. 

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define strategies, objectives, and resources for the Human Resources department, including management of departmental budget.
  • Play a key role in TO Live’s IDEA and ESG initiatives.
  • Provides leadership and direction and guidance for TO Live staff on all matters related to Human Resources.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Maintains TO Live’s Pay Equity program.
  • Oversees TO Live’s HRIS (BambooHR).
  • Participation in Board Committee and Board of Directors meetings as required, including creation of reports.
  • Takes part in union negotiations and meetings as required.
  • As part of the Senior manager team, monitors the organization's culture so that it supports the attainment of the company's goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
  • Researches, recommends and plans training and professional development courses and programs for staff.
  • Undertake special projects and duties as assigned by the President & CEO.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Required

  • CHRP/CHRL designation, post-secondary education specializing in Human Resources / Labour Relations.
  • 5 – 10 plus years’ experience in human resources preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment laws and practices.
  • Occupational Health & Safety certification and Standard First Aid CPR/AED training.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High degree of confidentiality, discretion and judgment required.
  • Experience in the performing arts and/or not-for-profit sector preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights and weekends as required.
  • Lack of natural light in workplace.
  • Frequent travel between TO LIVE venues.
  • Adhere to the TO Live Health & Safety policies and protocols including Covid vaccine and guidelines.
