Patron Development Director

Reporting to the Executive / Artistic Director, the Director of Patron Development (DPD) will work with the Board Fundraising Committee to devise and execute stewardship plans for a portfolio of new and existing supporters.   This position is also responsible for the development and implementation of the Marketing and Communications Plan.

As DPD the successful candidate will be responsible for the Patron experience. This includes keeping them informed, providing opportunities for their participation and ensuring that they know the Magnetic North value proposition. Specific duties will include: drafting correspondence; tailoring proposals, meeting with individual or corporate supporters and cultivating and managing donations.

This position also plays a major role in the implementation of innovative marketing plans in order to maximize revenue potential and to increase and diversify Magnetic North’s audiences. Well-honed personal communication and marketing skills will be essential to the success of the ideal incumbent.  Duties also include overseeing ticket sales, the creation and coordination of the Festival Program and developing and implementing the Festival’s social media strategy.

Requirements

  • Post secondary diploma specializing in marketing, communications or comparable area of study;
  • Three to five years’ experience in fundraising, preferably in a direct solicitation role;
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to enable the building of solid relationships, both internally and externally;
  • Demonstrated strategic thinker, organized, and action and results-oriented;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment towards achieving measurable results;
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate a variety of projects, activities and events while meeting staggered deadlines;
  • Professional knowledge of financial and customer relationship software;
  • Previous experience of the performing arts business is an asset.

Magnetic North Theatre Festival is unique because it moves around the country from its home base in Ottawa to a different Canadian City every other year.
