Supervisor, Theatre Client Services - Contract, up to 1 year

JOB SPECIFICATION:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Arts Management, Fine Arts, Theatre Arts or related field and 3 years related experience preferably in an arts management or theatre setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and team building skills required with the ability to work in a flexible team environment with ever changing priorities.
  • Motivated self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to liaise effectively with the public, outside organizations and internal clients
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service.
  • Analytical and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets and on-line ticketing software.
  • Flexible work hours and shift work may be required, including evening, weekends and holidays.      

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Manager, Performing Arts, is responsible for the administration of all aspects of theatre rental bookings, providing advice and guidance to theatre clients in use of theatre services and event planning activities; ensures the safety and comfort of clients and theatre goers through the hiring, training and supervision of part-time Front of House (FOH) supervisors and staff; supervises the delivery of Box Office Services to clients and theatre goers; and is responsible for all administrative functions of the Theatre business unit.                     

  • Ensures the smooth, integrated delivery of theatre services to rental clients through co-ordination of event planning discussions, marketing, ticket sales,  FOH services, concessions, lobby set-up and technical services
  • Advise and manage client expectations through discussions and sign-offs on services, procedures, policies, legislative requirements and financial implications
  • Solicits and develops new rental client business for the theatre
  • Supervises all aspects of Box Office service delivery and ticket sales including customer service delivery through on-line, telephone and in-person inquiries and transactions; customer database management; subscription series management; client settlements; theatre use statistical reporting and analysis; cash audits and compliance requirements for cash handling and technical web-based software troubleshooting
  • Develops and monitors administrative budgets including Box Office Systems, FOH and Concessions
  • Ensures proper training and supervision for up to 20 part-time FOH and administrative staff
  • Oversees the preparation, development and maintenance of financial and statistical records, weekly revenue reports,  payroll records and procedural manuals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

HOURLY RATE: $34.65 – $46.20
