Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Major Gifts and Foundation Services, supports objectives and achieves gift solicitation targets and endowment funding for the National Gallery of Canada Foundation. The Director is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with major donors and prospects; developing strategies and providing project management for key initiatives. This position will be responsible for supervising and providing advancement services for the Foundation offices including management of the donor database; high quality prospect and benchmarking research; donor relations and stewardship; financial and analytical reporting.
Requirements
Candidate Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in business or arts
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in fundraising with a major non-profit organization
- Experience in and passion for the arts, including the ability to articulate the many benefits of the arts and the National Gallery of Canada’s role on the national and international stage.
- Experience planning and managing budgets
- Bilingual candidate preferred (English/French).
- CFRE an asset
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving including knowledge of fundraising finance lexicon and policies (annual vs special campaigns, endowments, investment policies, expendable funds etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to build and retain strong, positive relationships with trustees, major donors and other stakeholders
- Excellent professional network
- Exceptional English writing and business reporting skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and functional abilities with Microsoft Project.
- Experience in Raiser’s Edge preferred
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, judgment, discretion, customer orientation and a team player
- Ability to work well under pressure, multi task and meet tight deadlines.
- Collaborative, inclusive and consultative management style
- Experience supervising staff
