Full-time Gallery Assistant: Community Art

Duties
 
As part of the Cultural Services Division you will be responsible for the conception, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive schedule of community art activities, special outreach programs and educational interpretations centered on exhibition themes and other relevant concepts. Targeting a wide range of audiences, the position plays a key role in increasing awareness, understanding, and appreciation for visual art and culture within the regional community. Responsible to maintain an understanding of, and remain current on: art gallery educational theories and developments; contemporary artistic developments, issues, production and practices including new media, technology and traditional media at the local, provincial and national level.

Qualifications
 
University degree or diploma in Art Education, Visual Art or equivalent. One year experience conceiving, developing, coordinating and implementing community art programs, tours, events and activities in a public art gallery environment. Current knowledge of Canadian art history including contemporary art practices. Demonstrated communications skills and capacities including: oral, written, presentation and reporting. Demonstrated coordination and time management skills. A valid Ontario Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.
