Director of Finance and Administration

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society is host to the internationally acclaimed Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) and the year-round Vancity Theatre with a combined total of 200,000 attendees per year.   Now in its 36th year, VIFF remains one of North America's most prestigious and largest film festivals.  Established in 2005, the Vancity Theatre provides a state of the art facility to showcase the best in international and Canadian cinema. In 2016, we operated 364 days a year during which time we screened films and provided an invaluable and affordable rental venue for numerous start-up film festivals and smaller not-for-profit film, arts and cultural organizations.

Reporting  to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Administration is responsible to provide leadership and direction to the senior leadership team, act as a resource to the board of directors, and oversee the day-to-day management of the finance, administration, information technology and human resource functions of the organization.

The Director of Finance is also the organizational lead in project planning to include oversight and management of facility and equipment resources, and organizational development initiatives.

The successful candidate will bring financial and human resource expertise  to the organization and be a progressive leader with a commitment to leading and inspiring through change, generating novel and creative solutions to the challenges of managing a complex cultural organization in the current social and economic climate, and be passionately committed to teamwork and collaborative approaches to problem-solving.  S/he has progressive leadership experience and demonstrated experience as a senior financial and human resource manager.
